Family Preschool Theme: Make a Family Tree
Ask each child how many people they have in their family. Have them draw a picture of each family member as well as a picture of them self. Each person shouldn’t be bigger than 1/3 – 1/6 of a regular piece of paper so cutting the paper before giving it to them will help keep the people at the correct size.
Now on your bulletin board, create a large tree with a branch for each child and smaller branches coming off those for their family members.
Talk about the families. How many children have 1 sibling, how many have 2 or no siblings? Do they have any pets?
Add on: Ask each child what is special or what they love best about their family. Create little speech bubbles and write the quotes inside. Place the speech bubbles coming from each child on the bulletin board.
Make it social: Do your parents “like” your facebook page? If so, here is a great opportunity to share with them. Take a picture of each child’s branch. Post them on your facebook page and tag the parents in each picture.
